Alpaca Shearing and Using Alpaca Fibre in the Food Forest | Permaculture Life

My alpacas need shearing each year to ensure they remain comfortable during a hot summer. In today's video we go along with them for their hair cut. I also discuss the different ways in which the fibre can be used - both the premium product and also what traditionally is thought of as waste. Produce no waste, and Use and Value Renewable Resources and Services are two permaculture principles. By valuing even the smallest, dirtiest piece of fibre we are following these principles. The time taken to use these scraps will be rewarded, in this case where I'm mulching trees, with healthier soil and healthier trees - it's a win/win!!
