The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world has ever knowingly come to a third world war. During this international crisis, the world came to a halt as the United States and the Soviet Union entered a two-week standoff in October of 1962. Through the experiences of two Canadian veterans, this video reflects on Canada’s role in the crisis and on the legacies of the Cold War. This video provides educators an opportunity to present oral history as a valuable source and incorporate firsthand accounts into classroom activities and discussions. Produced by the Memory Project.
