Leveling Up: Why Mobile Studios Are Moving From Hyper-Casual to Casual panel discusses the latest trends for mobile studios. Panelists: Erkmen Aydoğdu is the General Manager of SciPlay Türkiye, where he leads the studio’s transformation toward building longer-lasting, engagement-focused mobile titles. His journey began at Alictus in July 2019 as a User Acquisition Manager, where he quickly rose through the ranks: Growth Lead for Marketing, Head of Studio for Product, then VP of Games. Following SciPlay’s acquisition of Alictus, the studio rebranded and transitioned fully into SciPlay Türkiye in 2024, with Erkmen stepping into the role of General Manager. Over his 5+ years with the team, Erkmen has been a driving force in its evolution—from high-velocity hyper-casual development to a more sustainable, product-first mindset. John Wright is a season industry executive and current CEO of action sports studio Turborilla, home of the Mad Skills franchise generating over 250m downloads. John is also an active investor and advisor to multiple studios and gaming tech companies. Metin Demirkol is the CEO and co-founder of Narcade, an Istanbul-based mobile game developer and publisher founded in 2011. With more than a decade in mobile production and publishing, he has helped bring titles such as Farm Bubbles, Ignis, Zipline Valley, and Farm Blast to players worldwide, and is known for sharing practical, operator-level perspectives on building, launching, and scaling mobile games from Turkiye. Orhun Mert Şimşek is a seasoned mobile technology professional and entrepreneur based in Ankara, Türkiye. With over a decade of experience in mobile development, he co-founded APPS in 2014, focusing on hyper-casual gaming titles and mobile applications. His leadership has been instrumental in scaling the company, which has achieved significant milestones such as a 100% return on ad spend and a 300% increase in conversion rates for their game, Fashion Battle. In addition to his role at APPS, Orhun is a co-founder of BARAKATECH, a company specializing in mobile and web application development with a focus on blockchain and big data technologies. He is also an active member of the Google Developer Group (GDG) Ankara, where he has contributed as a co-organizer and speaker at events like Android Developer Days and Droidcon Greece. Orhun holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Hacettepe University.
