CAUTION: Spoilers for the 2.2 event story. Because of the invisible wall. Even if you go past the wall, you'll discover the object is inside the death barrier. To reach the object, one thing you can do is the disconnect and reconnect trick. Disconnect and move for a few seconds, then stop moving and reconnect. And repeat. If you're mid movement, you can open the map to pause (not doable in co-op mode). So the mysterious object is just the roof of a building poking out from underneath. The building in question is located on a floating island towards the north-west at the Garden of Eternal Daylight. If you've seen some of my videos, you may know the Wanxiang Realm, Garden of Daylight and Chroma's realm are all stacked on top of each other. You can also figure this out yourself by using the bell to teleport between the maps in co-op mode. When I'm really high in the sky, there's a weird square between the roof and the quest marker. Not actually sure what it is. It's only present in Chroma's realm. Could just be a shadow, reflection or some kind of rendering artifact.
