In NW Oregon Mt. Hood is visible from pretty much any location you travel to. It's Oregon's highest peak, and part of the Cascades Mountain Range. Surrounding it is the amazing Mt. Hood National Forest, filled with trails, peaks, and lakes. Arguably the most popular lake, and for good reason too, is Trillium Lake. Located at the Mt. Hood's south side, the lake gives the most picturesque view of the mountain right above the tree line. Normally this spot is bustling with people, there for the amazing views and lake activities. But winter brings a different story.. I came to Trillium Lake for a sunrise for the first time in winter, and it did not disappoint. Personally, I think it gives a much more unique feel to the area with snow covered ground and frozen water. This was easily the best sunrise I've had in this location, and the view is breath taking.
