Today we are taking a look at the Paint Puck. This is a nifty invention to help you clean and maintains your paintbrushes. They are sold as individual pucks to add to any glass jar as well as multipacks and elaborate containers. Blick has a good price: https://shrsl.com/2mk2s *Affiliate link used. **Product was sent to me for review purposes. I am a big believer in taking care of tools and supplies. Brushes can be expensive investments and they can last a long time when properly cared for. That's why I was excited to try this product. The paint pucks come in standard size and minis. They are a soft gentle silicone that will aid you in removing paint easily from your brushes. They are able to be used with water or solvents although the minis are recommended for oil painters as the solvents will make the silicone swell. The pucks sell for $6.49-$16 in individual and multipacks. I think they would be awesome stocking stuffers or party favors. The Ultimate Rinse Cup is a silicone bottom and top that fits over a clear plastic cylinder and is suitable for holding water. I tried it with watercolor and water-mixable oils and it worked really well for both. If you care about the appearance of the Ultimate Rince Cup I would wash it well after use with acrylics or water-mixable oils. I do not recommend using this with solvent as the silicone can swell (the mini pucks are designed to be used with oil paint solvent.) The Ultimate Rinse Cup offers grips at the top to hol the brushes upside down after washing on the outside of the cup with a flange at the bottom to catch drips. This prevents water from sitting in the brush's ferrule and potentially damaging the brush. There are also grips on the inside of the cup if you want to keep the tips of the brush wet until you get a chance to wash them. This way the bristles won't get bent and the wood handles of the brush won't swell and crack. The Ultimate Rince Cup is $30. It is well made and should last a long time. I think any of these would make a useful and thoughtful gift for any artist. #thefrugalcrafter #watercolor #art Want more inspiration?
