In this document I will chronicle the conversion of my 1939 Dodge Brothers Pickup Truck from a normal internal combustion engine vehicle, to an all electric vehicle. I purchased the truck in New Hampshire in 1973 (or thereabout) for $250.00. Using our Chevy Suburban my wife Mindy towed the truck home with me steering the truck. Once we got into our subdivision I jump started the engine. It ran for a few minutes producing a large cloud of blue smoke. That was the last time the engine ran. In New Hampshire I partly disassembled the truck cleaning out all of the bird, and squirrel nests. We then moved to New York State West of the Hudson River and just south of West Point. The name of the town was Washingtonville. There I completely disassembled the truck and sand blasted everything. Next I applied a primer coat of paint to all of the sand blasted sheet metal and the frame. We lived in New York State for about 8 additional years and nothing more happened to the truck during that time. When friends and family asked how I was coming on the old truck project, I would respond that it was "ageing nicely". We then moved to Lexington Kentucky and the truck sat in our garage for an additional 22 years with no restoration activity. I did however manage to pile all manner of stuff on, and inside the truck as it was a handy place to put things. On or about October 2010 I got the bright idea to convert the truck to an all electric vehicle. So, I started to clean off 22 years of accumulated stuff, and to do EV (Electric Vehicle) research on the internet. I then discovered EVTV.ME (Electric Vehicle Television) on the internet and it was all uphill from there. There is a pretty steep learning curve to converting a vehicle to all electric. But it is worth it, the first time you drive your EV down the street!!!!
