[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic 1: Unfinished Example Remade - 2025 Update Playthrough

I had initially thought I had already shown this on this channel. Apparently I didn't. Anyway, this hack, by DarkShamilKhan, was made to demonstrate an example of what they could do by ROM hacking. It's actually quite charming, and definitely gets the job done for a first ROM hack. I have to say, I found myself having a lot of fun playing through Dusk Hill! Unfortunately, level design wise, this hack falls for many of the traps that most beginner layout hacks fall into, with Marble and Spring Yard presenting a blockier, less inspired structure, and Star Light having lengthy stretches with nothing to do except watch Sonic's accumulated speed get put in use. The one boss fight in the game heavily reminds me of boss fights I'd see in the 2010s, with its highly increased speed and boosted HP. Unfortunately, this doesn't make for an entertaining boss fight. I recall having some issues with the moveset, which seem to have been fixed in this version, making this, by far, the best version of the hack.
