"The silence did more damage than processing the trauma ever would have." At the Wisconsin Active Threat Conference, I sat down with Shannon Hill, a survivor of the 1988 Oakland Elementary School shooting. Shannon was just six years old when a gunman entered her school, killing two of her peers and injuring many others. For decades, Shannon was told to simply "move on." There was no counseling, no therapy, and no discussion. In this deeply moving interview, Shannon shares: ✅ The reality of growing up with untreated PTSD. ✅ How becoming a mother in 2005 reignited her fight for school safety. ✅ Why "Move On" is the most damaging phrase a survivor can hear. ✅ Her advocacy for peer support and EMDR therapy. Shannon’s story is a reminder that school shootings don't end when the headlines fade. They last a lifetime. We must do better, not just in preventing these tragedies, but in supporting those left in their wake. Support the Mission: https://givebutter.com/safe-schools-f...
