Hello Friends, In this video I have shared some basic knowledge about cavitation in centrifugal pump which is quite helpful for the maintenance personnel. Cavitation is one of the most common and damaging issues in centrifugal pumps. It occurs when the pressure at the pump's suction side drops below the fluid’s vapor pressure, causing vapor bubbles to form. These bubbles collapse violently when they move to a higher-pressure zone, leading to noise, vibration, and damage to the pump components. Types of Cavitation: 1.Suction Cavitation 2.Discharge Cavitation 3.Internal Recirculation Cavitation 4. Air Aspiration Cavitation Effect of Cavitation: 1.Erosion and Pitting: Impeller and casing surfaces become damaged from bubble collapse. 2.Vibration: Increased vibration can lead to bearing and seal failure. 3. Reduced Flow and Pressure: Cavitation reduces the pump’s ability to generate pressure. 4.
