The Quick Attach website said blades are AR400 steel when purchased. AR is for Abrasion Resistance, which is mostly applicable to the cutting edge of digging equipment. AR 400 appears has no standards for structural strength to be a metal on its own impacting debris at 200MPH, although is typically stronger than mild steel. Overall quality of AR 400 steel can technically vary greatly. The hardened bottom surface may have also quickly degraded/been altered by friction. A hardened tool steel seems more appropriate for this application so long as not too brittle to avoid shattering and can withstand uneven heat from friction. I'm an engineer, although not an expert on metal, and want to leave my point as the quality of the metal cutting blades included is unacceptable for the cost of the mower deck and more so what it was advertised to do. Other metal blades take thousands of hours of such work without warping, where all 8 blades (2 sets) included I believe warped within 10 hours of use. Given they all are warping similarly, this does not seem like a single impact event, which would still be a problem. This mower now can't cut and mulch like it should. I expect the life of other mower parts is limited by the blades smacking brush and stumps, putting extra stress on the rest of the mower in a direction it should not. I have not ran the mower much, being afraid of further damage/injury, and being unsure of why it is doing this. I now suspect it's a problem with poor quality metal. Warped/bent blades are a safety issue as they have failed to maintain structure, increasing risk of liberation of blade parts. The manual states: "WARNING Bent, deformed, cracked, or damaged blades should be removed from the unit and discarded immediately. Never attempt to repair or reuse a damaged blade. WARNING Always replace worn blades. Do not sharpen or weld on the blades. Excessively warn blades can be thrown hundreds of feet." So every time I run it I need to replace the blades? My Takeuchi TL8R2 High Flow runs at 33GPM max., right in the middle of the specified flow rate for the brush mower (25 - 41GPM). I'm not even running these blades as fast as I could within Quick Attach's specifications.
