This was one of those games you remember loving when you rented it for a weekend. The X-Men were finally in a worthy console game looking like themselves and having their powers. Now that I've actually sat down and tried to complete the whole game years later though, this thing is kinda all style no substance! The levels are super short, but that's just to mask how easy it is for your mutant to die. One lucky combo by some random thug and your almost RIP. Don't even get me started on Magneto... I still don't know how he's possible with some of the characters. This game is for sure better to watch than play. *X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse* is a side-scrolling action game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1994. The game is based on Marvel Comics' X-Men franchise and features five of the most iconic mutants from the team: Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Psylocke, and Beast. Each character has a unique set of moves and abilities, which the player can use to complete various missions that involve infiltrating the island of Genosha to rescue captured mutants. The game combines beat 'em up mechanics with platforming elements, giving players a diverse gameplay experience. The story follows the X-Men as they confront enemies like the Sentinels and powerful bosses such as Apocalypse and Magneto. Each character starts with an individual stage designed to take advantage of their unique abilities. After completing these stages, the X-Men face more difficult challenges that require mastering each character's strengths to progress. The game's visuals were praised for capturing the comic book style, and the music added to the overall atmosphere of action-packed gameplay. Despite being relatively short, *X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse* remains a fondly remembered title for its challenging gameplay and faithful representation of the X-Men universe.
