I wanted to build a portable rig to use for coding and doing some gaming. I like to name my machines so named this one Tyche. 00:00 - Start the build 09:15 - Underside with GPU Fans Running 09:40 - Build finished 10:02 - Tyche - My Portable Rig 10:44 - Finished with case closed 12:24 - BIOS Setup CPU being used is an Intel Core i5 11600K with a Noctua NH-U12A Cooler. Motherboard is ASUS ROG Strix Z590-I. GPU is ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080. EVGA Supernova 850GM SFX PSU. The G.Skill Trident Z Royal Elite 5333MHz memory does work, but found that it isn’t stable. I think this could be a difference in the motherboard or the i5 vs i9. I had to update the BIOS also for me to even boot to the 5333MHz memory. The model number of the memory is F4-5333-16GTES. It’s 16GB of dual rank memory. Timing is CL22-32-32-52 at 1.60v. I decided to swap out the memory for G.Skill Trident Z Royal F4000C18D-64GTRS. The memory normally runs at CL18-22-22-42 at 1.40v. The memory won’t run at 4000MHz stable, so I clocked down to 3600MHz and set to 1.35v. I ran memtest386 to make sure the memory was completely stable. I ran the full test of 4 passes all night and it completed successfully. Updated Samsung 980 Pro Firmware after installing Samsung Magician software. After running some benchmarks decided to use this drive. It isn’t as fast at the WD drive, but the larger size will be useful for this machine. I was looking to use this machine for coding and such. Updated WD_BLACK SN850 Firmware after installing Western Digital Dashboard software. Decided to remove the Noctua industrial PPC NF-F12 3000 RPM fans on the top. The fans were too noisy, may decide to get a couple of other fans that aren’t as noisy. I found that just pulling off the side panel would drop the temperature of the case significantly. So it kind of makes the fans useless at the top.
