In this video, I share how I built a Facebook ad spy tool using n8n, inspired by Nick Saraev's awesome YouTube tutorial. My goal was to create a workflow that helps me analyze ads from big-spending brands like AG1 by Athletic Greens and turn those insights into ad variants for brands I work with, like Commonsuits.com (just a random example I picked for this project - I am not working for them!). This isn’t a polished, perfect system—it’s a practical tool I built to save time and spark creative ideas for my ad campaigns. The workflow scrapes ads from the Facebook Ads Library using Apify, stores them in a Google Spreadsheet, and analyzes them with Gemini to extract details like hooks, captions, and purposes. I also added a step to save everything to Google Drive, so I don’t have to keep re-scraping and can reuse the data for different clients. I walk through the three main workflows: scraping ads, analyzing them, and generating new ad ideas. It’s not flawless—there are some bugs, and the output can be messy—but it’s been super helpful for me to quickly generate creative briefs for designers and videographers. I also share some ideas I’m exploring, like automating voiceovers or video clip selection, though I haven’t fully built those yet. I’m sharing this in the hopes it might be useful to someone else out there experimenting with automation or ad creation.
