Thru Hiking Södra Kungsleden & Finnskogleden - Autumn 2025

At the end of September 2025, we (Lisa, Glenn & Titan, our 2.5 year old Alaskan Husky) began our adventure in Storlien, in the heart of central Sweden. It was the starting point of a journey through the Swedish mountains, dense forests, alongside huge lakes and meandering streams, with beautiful old wooden houses along the way. In total, we covered 747 kilometres in 39 days, including three well-deserved rest days. The first part of our journey followed the Södra Kungsleden. Most people are familiar with the Kungsleden in Lapland, but the original plan was to continue this route all the way south. The Södra Kungsleden is the detailed route between Storlien and Sälen: much less well known, but just as impressive. The second part of our adventure took us to the vast forests of Finnskogen, where we followed the Finnskogleden. An older route that fell into neglect for years, but has been revived in recent years.
