(Jump to 6:00 to get straight to the wind and rain) About the Derecho: The August 10, 2020 Derecho caused damaging winds over a distance of more than 700 miles from Iowa to Illinois through Northern Indiana. This video was filmed in Huntington County as the derecho impacted our area. One of the four fatalities caused by this system was reported in Fort Wayne just northeast of this location after a mobile home was flipped by strong winds. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa winds gusted up to 126 miles per hour. By the time the system reached northern Indiana it had begun to weaken but still had winds exceeding 60 miles an hour in areas.
