Bonjour and welcome to this mini-series on handmade gifting from the French countryside. Today we’re making simple lavender cushions using vintage and antique fabrics — a beautiful, thoughtful gift that’s easy to sew and lovely to give. These scented cushions can be tucked into linen drawers, wardrobes, under a pillow, or simply displayed as a small, charming touch around the home. I hope this gentle project inspires you to create something heartfelt for someone you love. This tutorial is part of my Handmade Gifting mini-series, with one gentle project every day this week. Prepare your fabric Iron your fabric and cut out your cardboard templates (square or rectangle). Add a 1 cm seam allowance when tracing on the fabric. Cut two identical pieces per cushion. 2. Pin and sew Place the two fabric pieces right sides together. Pin all around and mark a 6 cm opening on one side. Sew around the edges, leaving the opening unstitched. 3. Turn and shape Trim the corners, turn the cushion right side out through the opening, and gently push out the corners. 4. Fill with lavender Fill with wadding, adding pinches of dried lavender as you go to distribute the scent evenly. 5. Close the cushion Fold the raw edges inward and close the opening with an invisible stitch. 6. Gift & enjoy Tie two cushions together with a ribbon, match fabrics to each recipient, and enjoy their gentle lavender fragrance. 🌿 About this Series I’m sharing one handmade project every day this week — simple, warm, countryside-inspired gifts you can make with intention and love. ☕️ If you wish to show your support, you can buy me a coffee :) : https://buymeacoffee.com/frenchcountr...
