Let's cruise around Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford and the U District near University of Washington together. Fortunately, recently, I have been able to spend extended time living in North Seattle. Mostly in the Ballard area. There's an obvious reason why. Each area is unique. Seattle downtown is a bit homogenous from end to end, save the International District. But there's some real character out here. Ballard may be the name people know right now because of the restaurants, open markets, vintage shit and dive bar Mecca. When people think of Seattle, this is the image that comes to mind. Lots of people with tattoos and piercings. Don't forget the considerably high percentage of "people" with blue hair. It's a good color. Head east from Mecca and Find Fremont and Wallingford. These two areas are up and comers for fun stuff. Houses are older, like 1920's, basement, unfinished attic space. The whole 9 yards. And for some reason, or not, every house seems to have a hanging flag, obscure lawn ornaments or, most likely, a combination of the two. I went to Oregon State and it was a very college town. Like Washington State. I always imagined what it would be like to have gone to school in the city (or near it for UW). It looks awesome. So, you're telling me not only do I get a little bit of college life, walking to campus, a greek system, but it a bus into downtown Seattle? That pretty dope. In any case, it's better to live on campus.
