David Baerwald is an American singer-songwriter and composer known for his solo work and as a member of the duo David & David, alongside David Ricketts. Born on July 11, 1960, Baerwald first gained prominence in the mid-1980s with the release of the critically acclaimed album "Boomtown" (1986), which included hits like "Welcome to the Boomtown." Following the disbandment of David & David, Baerwald embarked on a solo career, releasing albums such as "Bedtime Stories" (1990) and "Triage" (1992). His solo work is noted for its insightful and often dark commentary on American life. In addition to his solo career, Baerwald has contributed to various soundtracks and collaborated with numerous artists. Notably, he was involved in the creation of the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's film "Moulin Rouge!" (2001), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He also co-wrote Sheryl Crow's hit song "All I Wanna Do," which won a Grammy Award.
