Dr. Brian Erkkila the Director of Regulatory Science at Swedish Match, a subsidiary of Phillip Morris International, spoke with CBS6 as soon as he left the Governor's office on Tuesday. As a part of her FY2027 Executive Budget, Governor Hochul is proposing to tax nicotine pouches like the rest of tobacco products. The State has projected $50 million in revenue from this proposal. A letter signed on by nearly two dozen organizations has voiced opposition to the proposal, saying the revenue projections would pale in comparison to the costs of addressing health needs due to smoking. -------------------------------------------------- Stay up to date with our social media: X: cbs6albany Facebook: cbs6albany YouTube: @cbs6albany https://cbs6albany.com/ Have a news tip?
