Today we are going back in time to one of the original Kuju Rail Simulator routes, dating all the way back to 2007. This is the original Somerset and Dorset Railway route, which runs from Bath Green Park to Templecombe, a distance of about 37 miles. I guess it was fore-shadowing Train Sim World's habits of short routes with missed opportunities (I'm looking at you, Great Western Express and Long Island Railroad). As you can clearly tell from the title and thumbnail, our engine for today's run is the famous Great Northern Railway Stirling Single No. 1, pulling a rake of 6-wheel GNR coaches. We will be driving the unique 4-2-2 over the 10.6 mile stretch from Radstock to Bath Green Park, stopping at the following stations on the way: Shoscombe and Single Hill Halt Wellow Midford Bath Green Park In real-life GNR No. 1 is preserved, and is on display at the National Railway Museum's second site in Shildon, County Durham. Unfortunately the Somerset and Dorset line closed in 1966, much to the dismay of rail enthusiasts at the time.
