Born in Argentina, he studied medicine before traveling across Latin America, where he witnessed widespread poverty and social injustice—experiences that deeply shaped his Marxist worldview. Che played a central role in the Cuban Revolution (1953–1959) alongside Fidel Castro, helping overthrow the U.S.-backed Batista regime. After the revolution, he held several key positions in Cuba’s new government, including Minister of Industry and president of the national bank. However, he grew disillusioned with bureaucracy and sought to spread revolution abroad. Driven by his belief in international revolution and anti-imperialism, Che left Cuba to support guerrilla movements in Africa and later in Bolivia.
