The Locomotives in question, primarily sourced from China, have proven to be one of the most unfortunate acquisitions for Pakistan Railways. Among them, the DPU20/30 Locomotives, with a staggering 69 out of 69 units grounded after just 10 years of service, are now scattered across different locations in Pakistan. Their condition remains dismal, and the prospect of their restoration is virtually non-existent.The second category of locomotives, the ZCU 20/30 series, is no less disheartening. Nearly half of the 58 units were grounded after a mere 4 years of operation, leaving them far from reliable for ongoing service. As a result, the locomotive sheds of Pakistan Railways have transformed into graveyards for these Chinese diesel-electric locomotives, representing a colossal loss of millions of dollars for Pakistan.
