Dangerous Navigation - The Swellies, North Wales

The Swellies have a dangerous reputation that requires careful navigation between rocky shoals and timing of the tidal races. We feel like a veritable pinball as we avoid the hazards. With the aid of our guide books and the very informative videos by YouTube channels “Sailing yacht Salty Lass” (episode 55) which shows navigation from the northern approach and “Sailing coz I love it “ which covers navigation from the southern approach (that I link at the end of this video) we felt confident that passage was possible with carefully selected tide times. John has been through the Swellies with the Irish naval reserve but this is our first time in Wave Dancer.
