DIY How To Sweep and Clean a Chimney Liner for a Woodburning Fireplace Insert, EPA Certified

Traditional wood stoves are easier to clean and require less work to gain access to the liner, but far less efficient with heat, and create way more particulates. EPA certified woodstoves and inserts use less wood, are better for the environment, and save you more money (for car parts). The liner is about 13' of 6" double walled stainless tube, and the insert is an Osburn 1800 65k BTU heater. This was my first time sweeping my chimney after using my insert for all of last winter, and I went through about 1.5 cords of wood, without sweeping it at all. Near the end of the season, I ran out of wood and cut down some dead standing trees in the woods for more heat, and I think the moisture content was a little higher which may have resulted in more creosote. I will walk you through how I disassembled parts of my stove, what products I used to sweep the liner, and give you a few tips so you can tackle this job yourself.
