The general consensus is that Retsu is the best and most impactful pvp character to date. With a combination of high sustained normal damage, extreme tankiness, team heal, full screen SA3, and gamechanging special, she is the perfect marriage of winning abilities. Up until now, Yhwach has been viewed basically as a support character. His role was to assist the lead character in swiftly defeating the enemy lead. The purpose of this video is to show that Yhwach is capable of carrying his own team. He does not need to be surrounded by a team of top tier characters. In order to utilize him to the maximum potential, there are a couple of factors that need to be considered. First, he needs to positioned in the side lane so that his barrier can negate more damage. Second, in the side lane, his SA3 can fully hit his and middle lane. Third, with the correct leading character, his SA2 may also hit both lanes. Before we go any further, we must understand Yhwach's AI. In the side lane, he needs to walk forward to cast SA3. Immediately after casting SA3, he will flash step forward and towards the middle to cast SA2. The enemy lead needs to be in a certain position to take hits from Yhwach's SA2 (near starting position). Basically we need a lead that has a lunging SA2 that will keep the enemy lead near that starting point. Retsu usually casts SA1 after SA3 but she is a special case since both SA1 and SA2 are gap closers. Retsu and Banken are two prime candidates since they guarantee the position they end at due to uninterruptible strongs (poise). While the enemy is near the starting point, Yhwach can hit both his/mid lane with his SA3 as well as SA2. If he is able to hit the enemy Retsu with 2 strong attacks, then your Retsu will be able to move on to the next target only seconds into the fight. After trying Yhwach in the top and bottom lane, I find that his AI is more consistent in lining up the targets for SA2 in the top lane. In order to feature Yhwach, for the purpose of this video, Banken will be equipped with CHAPPIES. With this handicap, he will have limited burst and sustained damage to test Yhwach's influence in the top and middle lane. Usually, SP Banken in the middle lane would be overkill on the enemy middle lane; and his sustained damage after casting strongs is negligible due to inconsistent SA1, slow NAD string, low bruiser, and weak killer. Even with the chappy Banken, Yhwach can consistently kill the opposing lead within 5 seconds of the fight. This in combination of guaranteed strongs due to his 10 hit barrier allow him to consistently deal damage before dying. With all of this in consideration, Retsu is the best lead especiallly since her early double team is extremely dangerous. So as you can see in this video, Yhwach is highly capable of carrying his own team. But if placed with a Retsu mid, he can realize his full potential. If placed alongside an Ulq mid, they can potentially 1 shot the enemy lead with just SA3 if Ulq can proc weaken. This can be extremely powerful for defending teams since his SA3 has so many hit counts. The introduction of Yhwach opens up a lot of team possibilities as well as counterplay against different types of teams. I hope people will reevaluate their initial impressions of this beast as he was seemingly weak on paper before release. But after extensive testing, I can truly say that Yhwach is a beast and a really well designed pvp character (except for his link). Music: Savfk - The Inevitable
