In this edition of #WWB: A Closer Look, YWCA.GC Executive Director LaVanda Brown Interviews 2025 Entrepreneur Honoree, Isis Spann, Founder & CEO of Fundamentals of Learning A Home for School (micro-school) Mrs. Isis Amelia Spann is a devoted mother of four and the proud wife of her biggest supporter, Terry Spann Jr. A first-generation college graduate, Mrs. Spann earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Johnson C. Smith University, followed by a master's degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. She is an accomplished author, veteran , educator, keynote speaker, consultant, and micro-school founder. A graduate of YWCA GC WE 360° program, Mrs. Spann is also the executive director of A Home For School, the first Black-owned micro-school in Moncks Corner. Since 2019, she has served as CEO of FUNdamentals of Learning, an organization that has impacted thousands of students and families across the tri-county area. She firmly believes that every child is a genius, every family is an asset, and every educator has the power to plant seeds of hope in a child’s life.
