Enjoy this rare double header of two 2-6-6-2T Mallet locomotives in action on the Black Hills Central Railroad in South Dakota. Both locomotives formerly served in the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest. Locomotive #110 is a 1928 Baldwin that worked for the Weyerhauser Timber Company and later Rayonier. Locomotive #108 is also a Baldwin that was built in 1926 for the Potlatch Lumber Company. It sat outdoors for decades at the Snoqualmie Railroad Museum in Washington State. This double-header train ride only happens once a year, but either locomotive can be seen pulling passenger trains during the season.
