-SUBSCRIBE FOR WEEKLY MIXES- [Lock In #017] Leon Switch is known for the creation of Defcom Records, high charged Drum and Bass and deep, spacious, atmospheric Dubstep. He is also one half of the Kryptic Minds duo, alongside Simon Shreeve. Last Monday’s mix is a Kryptic Minds Dubstep mix, (check it out below!). The predominant sound in this mix is from their album, Lost All Faith, which was released in 2007. It’s a Drum and Bass album and continuously messes around with the standard DnB sound, bringing their pioneering style to it. There’s a couple of tracks in the album which stand out, due to their sheer denial of genre and sound. Opus Dei is an orchestral instrumental originally at DnB tempo. Place it over any dirty track (for example, Way of the Warrior) and add that melodic touch to it. The second is Angels of the Highest Order, which is a jazzy piece with chaotic drum samples. After the DnB, comes the Dubstep. Leon Switch’s Chestplate release, Deadlock, is mixed in with the Minor Nine remixes single. Contrasting excellently with his hi-tempo beats which precede, these tracks are weighty, with intricately patterned percussion stepping you through the mix.
