Existential Philosophy and Molecular Biology I am interested in how we find meaning in the absence of a grand narrative to the cosmos*. Some viewers may find it surprising that molecular biology has anything to do with the meaning of life. By the end of this talk, I hope to have made a convincing case for why molecular biology really matters to the existential community, and beyond. Ultimately, I aim to offer a positive framework for human existence from my perspective as a molecular biologist. Please note that this talk is for everyone. I contrast my perspective with the vocal atheist movement of the early/mid-2000s, which I believe failed to offer a satisfactory framework for finding meaning in human life. And don’t worry if you don’t have a science background; if I do my job well here, you won’t need one! About The Speaker My name is Dr Chris Earl. I am a post-doctoral research scientist.
