2o IOL implantation in an 11y/o girl with traumatic corneal perforation & aphakia Kanellopoulos, MD

We illustrate herein the complex surgical management of a visually devastating traumatic corneal perforation, irididialysis and aphakia in an 11y/o girl. The initial trauma management was performed elsewhere. The sequence of the multiple procedures we performed within this intervention were: 1-perform an anterior vitrectomy, 2-lyse the iris-corneal wound synechiae, 3-implant and enclave an Artisan aphakia IOL behind the iris, and round up with 4-iridoplasty by employing 10-0 proline suture on a long straight needle. A corneo-scleral incision was used. We aimed for a myopic refractive error anticipating future therapeutic laser corneal reshaping in order to curb the significant central irregularity. Early postop acquity improvement was HM to 20/60 UDVA
