We joined North Hampshire Hunt Sabs, Guildford Hunt Saboteurs and Surrey Hunt Monitors for an 11:00 meet at Exton House. We have seen a lot of Road Traffic Act and Vehicle Excise and Registration Act offences being carried out by the two main fox hunts in Hampshire and we were keen to see what the HHH were up to. True to form a single seater hunt quad bike left the meet and was filmed throughout the day on the public highway with a passenger perched precariously on the side. Surprisingly the quad bike was actually taxed and had an MOT, however carrying a passenger on this quad breaches the Road Traffic Act and is extremely dangerous. This currently carries a £100 FPN and 3 penalty points. This has now been reported to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary. Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Surrey Hunt Monitors have been filming these kinds of offences committed by the hunts in Hampshire for many years with absolutely nothing done by the Police. It would seem that anyone who is issued a FPN for a RTA offence in Hampshire should be asking the Police why the hunts appear to be exempt and they’re not. Maybe they should just give the Police Officer a funny handshake, say they are with the hunt and they may be let off ?? Of course this is not just happening in Hampshire but all over the UK and we urge everyone who witnesses or films this type of reckless behaviour to report it to the Police on 101. The hunt moved at speed from the meet to Winchester Hill and then back to Beacon Hill for an early finish as they had their rescheduled hunt ball to attend, as the Marwell Hotel had cancelled on them.
