Election Commission Suspends 7 Officers in WB Over SIR Irregularities | Voter List Row Deepens

The Election Commission of India has suspended seven officials in West Bengal over serious allegations of negligence and misuse of power during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. These officials were serving as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers across various Assembly constituencies. The Chief Election Commissioner has written to the State Chief Secretary directing immediate disciplinary action against them. Meanwhile, the final voter list is scheduled to be published on February 28 following the SIR process. Notably, the draft SIR list released on December 16, 2025, reportedly excluded more than 58 lakh voters.
