I used the Bilt Mastercard to pay for an $8/month US Mobile plan, filed a real phone insurance claim through Assurant after cracking my screen, and walked through the entire process from start to finish. Does credit card phone insurance actually work? How do you file a cell phone insurance claim through Assurant? What documents do you need, and why do most claims get denied? I answer all of these in this video by showing you exactly what happened when I filed a real claim. The claims process through Assurant is nearly identical across all of them. If your credit card offers cell phone insurance and you pay your phone bill with that card, you're already covered. Credit card cell phone insurance covers functional damage like cracked screens, water damage, and hardware failure — not cosmetic scratches. It works similarly to AppleCare or carrier insurance (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T phone insurance) but costs $0 if you already have an eligible card. The deductible is typically $25–$50 depending on the card. If you're paying $10–$15/month for AppleCare+ or carrier phone insurance but already have a credit card with cell phone protection, you might be wasting over $100 a year. This video shows exactly what happens when you try to use it. Related Video: Chase Edit Hotels: • The Problem With Transferring Chase Points...
