If your credit card offers cell phone insurance and you pay your phone bill with that card, you're already covered. Credit card cell phone insurance covers functional damage like cracked screens, water damage, and hardware failure — not cosmetic scratches. It works similarly to AppleCare or carrier insurance (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T phone insurance) but costs $0 if you already have an eligible card. The deductible is typically $25–$50 depending on the card. If you're paying $10–$15/month for AppleCare+ or carrier phone insurance but already have a credit card with cell phone protection, you might be wasting over $100 a year.
