With the clock already ticking, the team empties the van and heads off on a mid-job road trip: first back to last week’s site to grab a welder, then to the hire shop to collect a recently repaired water pump. Only once everything’s back on site does the full extent of the water problem become clear. From there it’s all hands on deck. The trenches are pumped out, and the crew push on to drive the four piles needed to secure the extension foundations. With the weather against them and no room for delays, Canen gets stuck in immediately, working the heavy-duty winch and tripod system used to move the pneumatic mole safely around the site. The day finishes with ring beam installation and concrete, running later than planned as Kev arrives just before sunset for a proper moonlight pour — the only way to get the job finished within the tight programme.
