Backun Bass Clarinet Vocalise R (Close/Short) Selmer Deposé 1929 low E In the video, I am testing only the R model, as it suits me the best, along with the differences with the reed. The sound differences with the G model are minimal, and my intention was not to make a comparison video.My previous mothpieces are Selmer Focus and Vandoren BD5. The medium opening mouthpiece (G) has a lower tuning, but i can handle it with neck and this piece is easier to control tan other mpc’s . The small opening mouthpiece (R) is more classical and balanced. Interestingly, the same reed worked well on both. The Backun mouthpieces have an amazing dynamic range, starting from a very soft piano. Basically, with the Backun, you can feel the craftsmanship, sense of detail, and balance. Technology Designed at Backun using advanced CAD/CAM software and tested with 3D printing technology, the mouthpieces are crafted from hard rod rubber on a highly advanced nine-axis CNC machine and finished in a unique done-in-one machining program that combines the milling and lathing processes without the need for a second setup or recalibration. Models R Model Bb - Close/Short Evenness and a focus of sound that sings with ease are two characteristics of this close facing mouthpiece. G Model Bb - Medium/Medium A medium faced mouthpiece that combines exceptional evenness and round tonal complexity. The G has a smoother influence on interval connections just where you need it.
