I spent a day on familiar ground just looking for a days fishing where I could escape negative news covid19 lockdowns and the rest of life’s pains in the hole. So I was on the Upper Lough Erne. I fished a 3 rod spread, all baits were fished in a standard running ledger style with baits being either hard on the bottom or popped up. The Lough was definitely flooded with the lough meeting the jetty normally it’s a few feet below the jetty but I suspect the three weeks of rain has flooded the Upper Lough and the River Erne the Lower Lough is being run off as fast as possible by the hydro electric plant at Ballyshannon to make room for inevitable winter storms and flooding. Fishing wasn’t exactly hell for leather I had one run the whole day which resulted in a low double that was in pretty poor condition she was blind in one eye had obvious boga grip damage to her jaws and signs of pretty poor handling she took a popped up Mackerel tail. I used 2 balsa sticks to pop up the bait when I use balsa I make sure that they are secured by wire to the trace so they aren’t left inside the Pike. Weather wise the wind got steadily worse throughout the day and then the rain showers started the temps were in the low teens oc that’s odd for this time of year normally the water temps in Nov are below 10oc for me that’s the temp that pushed fodder fish to the winter locations and the Pike follow them were close to this but were not quite there yet. Angling Guide who took photos of gutted Pike on lough Corrib:- Mr Slawek Preis email [email protected] From Chatting to Pete he says he’s had a shipment of supplies so he is ready to rock and roll producing drop arms again and there is some exciting news in the pipeline ref a pike specific bite alarm that fits a bank stick. I am looking forward to getting my hands on these to give them a go. They aren’t quiet ready for market just yet but they aren’t a million miles away so something to look out for in the future. Mr Pete Foster of Advanced Predator Products the retail for £23 each but if you use code DSAA then you’ll get them Postage free. Here’s Pete’s detail’s:- www.advancedpredprod.weebly.com / advancedpredatorproducts Pike Fishing Tackle, this is a small run down of where I get my Pike Fishing Equipment. If you see me using something and the description isn’t here, then ask me and I’ll let you know. The Rods for bait fishing I use are BB350 12’ 3.5lb tc & D-3 13’ 4lb tc these are made by Dave Lumb of DLST http://www.dlst.co.uk/index.html Mr Lumb is a artist when it comes to building fishing rods if you’re in the market for a rod built to your own desires then Dave is your man. The Drop Arms I use are made by Pete Foster trust me these are the bog dangly bits as Pike Fishing Drop Arms go here’s a link to where you can get them from:- www.advancedpredprod.weebly.com Facebook Page:- / advanced-predator-products-110199180514261 Reels I tend to stick with Shimano Reels as I trust them, I use a few different models of Shimano Reel for Pike fishing from Big Pits to Bait Runners. I get my bait oils, AFW Bleeding Leader Wire and terminal tackle from Eddie Turner https://www.eddieturner.co.uk/ Eddies Oil is simply the best there’s nothing that comes close to it in my humble opinion. He’s also a great font of knowledge and published author I have lost count of the times I’ve annoyed him for ideas on rigs and how best to fish certain locations. I use happily recommend two Dead Bait bait companies one is Nev Fickling’s Lucebait’s http://www.thetackle-shop.co.uk/secti... the other is Scotland’s finest Gadda Baits http://www.gaddabaits.com/ both are excellent. I happily recommend the tackle shop Fishing Tackle & Bait, https://www.fishingtackleandbait.co.uk/ in Enniskillen Northern Ireland. It’s my local shop it’s the sort of place I can go in and ask if they will order two different types of chair which they did I then picked one and bough it, not only was this not a bother to them they even matched the cheapest internet price for the chair I chose, David and the guys in FTB frequently bend over backwards to go that extra mile to help folk out. I'm not sponsored by any of the above companies everything I have on the bank with me is something I’ve paid out my own pockets for it. If you have any specific questions about the fishing tackle I use then feel free to ask me in the comments below this video or you can come on over to my Facebook page and I will happily answer any questions you have:- / dfsangling I am also on Instagram:- / david.f.scobie
