Tape Loops From The Future: Small Winters VST

This is Small Winters, an $8 VST by Puremagnetik. Described as a Granular Splice Multitrack, it's a performance-oriented, three-layer looper where the "loops" are actually small sections of the recorded sample(s) which modulate over time. I became so enamored with how the software is designed and utilized that I felt compelled to make this basic introduction. It has 51 MIDI-mappable parameters, which means it's extensively controllable. With the right MIDI controller, it can really feel like you're sitting in front of some sort of futuristic hardware loop station from the year 2045. Novation just sent me a LaunchControl XL, which is perfect for taking any sort of plugin with so many parameters. I built a custom user mode, bought some color-coded knobs n' sliders, and now I have the hardware looper of my science-fiction dreams. I encourage you to do the same; any MIDI controller with a couple of knobs could have a similar effect. Enjoy. Microphone is a DPA4999.
