READ ME FOR THE EXPLANATION I’m putting this out before my first impression because I thought it my be good to share my thoughts/concerns about @atmizone ‘s Steamshell positive contact. The entire bottom pin is part of the positive side of the coil. This is only a concern if you are dropping this into an aluminum base/boro. The only thing stopping the positive pin from touching the aluminum boro is the o-ring. This isn’t as rigid as say, a PEEK insulator housed within the bottom threading like most other RBAs. Mentioning other RBAs; the threading on the putter part of the bottom post is connected to the negative post side of the coil. This would be perfectly fine coming into contact with an aluminum boro, current would still have to go through the positive pin, through the coil, then out the negative post (ultimately traveling through the mod, boro, negative side of the battery) Having Steamshell’s positive pin potentially coming into contact with an aluminum boro would mean that the current’s path would only have to travel through the positive contact, through the aluminum boro, through your mod and to the negative terminal on the battery which is a hard short. Again, this is just POTENTIAL path. This would only pose a risk to a setup that is an unregulated boro device that has a bare metal boro cavity, and you slap the Steamshell in an aluminum boro with shoddy o-rings. If you are using a regulated mod, all of this might just result in your mod telling you you have a short. This might be the culprit if you’re sure you’ve clipped your leads properly and you have proper clearance from the top of your coil to the chamber ceiling. Feel free to chime in in the comments and let me know if there’s something I’m missing or if what I’m presenting is wrong in any way. I’ll want to correct it for sure. #atmizoo #atmizone #steamshell #rba
