Il Public Program di Pirelli HangarBicocca, dedicato alla mostra “A Seed Under Our Tongue” di Saodat Ismailova, ha presentato, giovedì 7 novembre 2024 alle ore 19, una conversazione in mostra tra l’artista Saodat Ismailova e Daniel Blanga Gubbay, direttore artistico del festival internazionale di arti performative Kunstenfestivaldesarts di Bruxelles. La conversazione ha esplorato alcuni dei temi centrali della mostra, quali la conoscenza, la natura e gli animali; l’accesso ad altri mondi nella cultura spirituale dell’Asia centrale; la relazione tra tessuto e creazione di immagini e la fragilità della terra. Daniel Blanga Gubbay è un curatore di arti performative e scrittore. Dal 2018 è alla direzione artistica del Kunstenfestivaldesarts di Bruxelles, un’importante istituzione di riferimento nelle arti performative. Ha lavorato come educatore e curatore indipendente di programmi pubblici, tra cui The Telepathic School (Ural Biennale, Yekaterinburg 2021), Yogurt and Other Spaces of Labour (Ashkal Alwan, Beirut 2021, in collaborazione con Zeynep Öz), Four Rooms (online, 2020), Can Nature Revolt? (Manifesta, Palermo 2018) e The School of Exceptions (Santarcangelo, 2016). Ha co-curato Live Works presso Centrale Fies dal 2014 al 2018 ed è attualmente membro del comitato artistico del Beirut Art Centre. Si è laureato con Giorgio Agamben all’Università Iuav di Venezia e ha conseguito un dottorato in Studi Culturali tra Palermo e Valencia. È stato a capo del dipartimento Arts and Choreography presso la Royal Academy of Fine Arts di Bruxelles dal 2015 al 2019, dove continua a insegnare. Scrive regolarmente e suoi recenti articoli sono apparsi su South as a State of Mind, e-flux, Mada Masr e Performance Journal. ///// The Public Program of Pirelli HangarBicocca dedicated to the exhibition “A Seed Under Our Tongue” by Saodat Ismailova, presented, on Thursday 7 November 2024 at 7 PM, a conversation inside the exhibition between the artist Saodat Ismailova and Daniel Blanga Gubbay, artistic director of Kunstenfestivaldesarts international performing arts festival in Brussels. The conversation explored some of the exhibition’s central themes such as: knowledge, nature and animals; the access to other worlds in Central Asian spiritual culture; the relation between textile and image making; and the fragility of the land. Daniel Blanga Gubbay is a performing arts curator and writer. Since 2018, he is at the artistic direction of Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, a leading commissioning institution in the performing arts. He has worked as educator and independent curator of public programs, includingThe Telepathic School (Ural Biennale, Yekaterinburg 2021), Yogurt and Other Spaces of Labour (Ashkal Alwan, Beirut 2021, in collaboration with Zeynep Öz), Four Rooms (online, 2020), Can Nature Revolt? (Manifesta, Palermo 2018), and The School of Exceptions (Santarcangelo, 2016).
