Why Jung Believed Jesus Spoke Against the Demiurge, Not God

Carl Jung believed that some teachings of Jesus challenged not the ultimate God, but a lesser flawed creator known in Gnostic thought as the *Demiurge* a powerful but unconscious force that built the imperfect material world. Jung saw Jesus’ message that “the Kingdom of God is within you” as a direct challenge to religious systems based on external authority, rules, and priestly control. In this interpretation, Jesus was awakening people to the divine reality already within them, confronting the ego-like force that mistakes itself for the highest power. For Jung, this struggle between inner truth and controlling structures is not just ancient history it is a psychological battle still unfolding within every human being.
