In this video, we will explain how to upgrade the firmware of Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 to L5210 panels using the LYNXTOUCH-MSD Tool: https://bit.ly/2WcBbU8 Once you insert the upgrade tool, the LYNX is smart enough to know which software to upgrade for that particular model, so you don’t need to remember any specific software revisions. You also do not need to worry about the current software revision on the field-installed LYNX TOUCH as all software versions are upgradeable. This process takes less than 5 minutes to do the software update on-site and is perfect for upgrading current 3G/4G and CDMA installs to LTE. To update the firmware on the L5200 to L5210 Power down the Control by removing electrical power and disconnecting the battery. Remove the Communications Module (if installed) from the edge connector on the right (speaker) side of the control’s circuit board. Install the Software Update Tool on the right (speaker) side of the Control’s circuit board Reconnect the battery Close the Control’s cover (Cover must be Closed or Update will not run.) While pressing and holding the “Home” button, apply power to the Control. Continue holding the button until “Press Home Key to return” is displayed on the screen. Release the button The system displays the following menu: MAIN MENU (M) Main (M) ^ (M) Update (M) Shutdown 8 Press the “Panic” button to scroll until the “Update” option is highlighted and then press the “home” button to accept the “Update” option. A legend displayed at the bottom of the screen describes the functions of the control’s keys. Key Function Home Select Panic Next/Scroll Down Press the “Panic” button to scroll down and highlight “#Filesystem” and press “Home” button to accept Press the Control’s “Panic” button to scroll down to the line that contains the desired file name (similar to SxxxxV9xxxxx.bin). Press the Control’s “Home” button to select the file. When the software update is complete, the system displays “Press Home Key to return”. Press the “Home” key. The system again displays “Press the “Home Key to return”. Press the “Home” key again. Power down the Control and disconnect the battery. Remove the Update Tool and reinstall the communications module (if previously installed) on the right (speaker) side of the control’s circuit board. Reconnect the battery and close the Control Apply power to restart the Control Once you have completed the above process it is now time to verify that the panel is up to the latest firmware. Select “Security” icon at the Home Screen. Select “More”. Select “Tools”. Enter the 4-digit Master Code. Select “Test”. Confirm the software revision displayed on top line is the software revision you intended to update. Press “Home” button to go back to return to the Home Screen. Previously there were two ways end-users could update their firmware. The first was by over the air remote firmware updates. Once that became obsolete alarm companies would have to contact Honeywell to have them remotely push the new firmware to the LYNX Touch panels. Now that both of these options are no longer possible end-users must use the LYNXTOUCH-MSD firmware upgrade tool to accomplish this. Upgrading your L5200 or L5210 firmware is something here at GeoArm we recommend you tackling sooner rather than later because the new rev number 9 is the rev number that will allow for LTE cellular modules to be activated.
