But the truth is, while the notion that kids learn languages faster and more easily is an almost universally held belief, even among some linguists, it turns out adults actually learn languages massively quicker and more easily than our parasitic minis. And everybody actually knows this if they stop and think about it even for a minute. This is much like the tongue taste map that many of us were taught as kids despite the fact that it was so obviously not a real thing to anyone who has a tongue and has eaten before… But even our very educated teachers were shoving this supposed fact down our throats with tests on it and everything. In one class I had as a child, they even had us do a basic supposedly scientific experiment on it to both teach us how to do science and to demonstrate the tongue taste map by giving us things to taste. And naturally if we didn’t put the right answers they expected after doing our experiment, we got it wrong and they made us redo that assignment until we got it right because that’s how science works in elementary school apparently… I’m not bitter.
