Discovering Angelo Morbelli: The Master of Divisionism Dive into the life and works of Angelo Morbelli, a master of Divisionism and a pivotal figure in Italian art. Born on July 18, 1853, in Alessandria, Morbelli initially pursued a career in music but turned to painting due to progressive deafness. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera under Giuseppe Bertini. Gaining public attention in 1880 with "Goethe Morente," Morbelli's focus shifted to realism in 1883, particularly depicting elderly residents of the Pio Albergo Trivulzio. Around 1890, he embraced Divisionism, influenced by friends Leonardo Bistolfi and Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo. Morbelli's work captured the hills of Casale, the rice fields of Vercelli, and mountain landscapes in Santa Caterina Valfurva. Notable awards include the gold medal in Dresden (1897) for "Per Ottanta Centesimi" and "S'avanza," and another at the Paris Universal Exposition (1900) for "Giorno di Festa al Pio Albergo Trivulzio." His later years saw a return to themes of the Pio Albergo Trivulzio, marine landscapes, and motherhood, continuing his artistic endeavors between Milan and Colma until his death. #AngeloMorbelli #ItalianArt #Divisionism #PioAlbergoTrivulzio #BreraAcademy #RealismInArt #ItalianPainter #ArtHistory #HistoricalThemes #LandscapePainting danielearte Needs Your Support: paypal.me/danielearte #danielearte #OnlineArtGallery #CollectionOfPaintings #ArtHistory #TASCHEN
