The Everly Brothers released this song in 1960. I was twelve in 1960. I wasn’t paying attention to the lyrics at that age. The lyrics are slightly cringing and cloying in places, which is why I changed the line “And so I beg you” to “And so I’m asking….” But it’s a great melody and I’ve always loved the song which first caught my attention because of the great harmonies the Everly Brothers produced on so many of their hits. I’m hoping to get a song up about every three weeks or so under the heading “Songs I Like”. You might like some of them too. Enjoy the first offering.
