Welcome to the very first episode of Not Boring Review of the Nightlife. This series started from a simple question. When you travel to a new city and look up clubs online, there’s often very little real information about what those places are actually like — beyond flyers, lineups, and hype. So we decided to start a different kind of review. In Not Boring Review of the Nightlife, we sit down with club owners, managers, and the people behind the scenes to understand how nightlife spaces are built, operated, and experienced — and why some of them stand the test of time. For Episode 01, we begin with one of San Francisco’s most iconic clubs: Public Works located at 161 Erie St, San Francisco, CA 94103. In this episode, we speak with the club’s management and dive into: the philosophy behind Public Works how nights are built before the doors open what makes the space feel different from other venues and why Public Works remains Not Boring after so many years This first episode focuses on the perspective of the club itself — the people who shape the experience long before anyone steps onto the dancefloor. In the next episode, we’ll shift the focus to the crowd and hear Voices from the Dancefloor — what the people inside Public Works feel, notice, and come back for.
