He was discovered by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in the woods—a place no domestic rabbit should ever be. Unlike wild cottontails, domestic rabbits don’t have the instincts, speed, or camouflage to survive predators or harsh weather. DJ Mr. Freckles, with his soft, spotted coat and gentle nature, was never meant to fend for himself outdoors. Without rescue, his chances were slim. Thankfully, the DNR stepped in, and from there, he hopped into our lives. When he arrived at Legendary Acres, we knew right away he was something special: a Mini Rex rabbit. ✨ About the Mini Rex Breed ✨ The Mini Rex is a beloved rabbit breed, first recognized in the U.S. in 1988. They are best known for their incredible velvety fur, which is plush, dense, and so soft it feels like you’re touching velvet fabric. Mini Rex rabbits come in a wide variety of colors and patterns—DJ Mr. Freckles’ charming spots give him his signature look. They are also known for their sweet, calm personalities. Mini Rex rabbits tend to be friendly and curious, making them wonderful companions.
