Bike ride from Utrecht to Nieuwegein [Full-length]

On this windy Sunday I biked from the Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn train station to the suburb of Nieuwegein. After the first urban stretch, we reach and follow the Merwedekanaal channel. In the coming years, the office park next to that channel will be redeveloped to a high-density neighbourhood. Then, we use the Jutphasebrug bridge to cross the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. With 100,000 ships per year, this is the busiest shipping canal in the world. After the bridge, we enter Nieuwegein. First we see its car-loving side, by the large roads that connect it to Utrecht and the surrounding highways. Then when we enter the neighbourhoods themselves, Nieuwegein's other side takes over. Quiet and park-like residential neighbourhoods stretch on seemingly forever. Eventually I got a bit lost, and this is where I ended the video.
