About the Composition The Composition is a cyclical arrangement of Raags in accordance with their prescribed time, as given by the Shastra.It is believed that in the appropriate time frame, the raag appears to be at the height of its melodic beauty and majestic splendor. The piece begins with Raag Bhairavi an evergreen morning raag as the day progresses, one raag flows into another symbolizing the transitioning "prahars" of the day.Just like a bird leaves its nest at dawn in search of food and other things, but eventually comes back home, The piece transverses from one raag to another but eventually returns to Bhairavi from where it once began. Moorchana is also known as "Graha Bhedam" in the carnatic system, which literally translates to "Switching Homes".It refers to the process of shifting the tonic within same scale, in order to obtain the illusion of different raags.An exhibition of the same may be found in the Malkauns section.
