Supreme Court Issues Notice To Centre Over Air India Crash | India Today News

The Supreme Court has taken up a plea from Pushkar Sabharwal, the father of the late Captain Sumit Sabharwal, who was the pilot of the ill-fated Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad. The court issued a notice to the Centre and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after the 91-year-old father sought an independent inquiry, alleging a media campaign was unfairly blaming his son. A Supreme Court judge remarked, 'It's extremely unfortunate, this crash, but you should not carry this burden that your son is being blamed. Nobody can blame him for anything'. The court observed that the preliminary report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) does not assign fault to the pilot and has scheduled the next hearing for November 10.
